Online therapy to suit you
Online counselling allows you to meet with your counsellor or therapist from the comfort of your own space. It offers the same warmth presence and person centred approach as in person work but with the added convenience of joining from home work or any private environment that feels right for you. For many people online therapy removes barriers and makes counselling more accessible and less intimidating.
Research consistently shows that online therapy is just as effective as in person counselling for most people and in many cases clients find the convenience and comfort of being at home improves consistency and engagement. What matters most is the quality of the therapeutic relationship which can be created fully online.

How does online therapy work?
Online sessions take place through a secure video call link that we send to you before your appointment. Each session lasts fifty minutes and follows the same structure and quality standards as our in person work. Once you join the session your counsellor or therapist will welcome you in and you can begin at your own pace.
Your therapist will stay present and attuned in just the same way as they would in the room. You remain in control of what you choose to talk about and the work is always guided by your needs your comfort and your readiness.
How does online therapy feel?
Online sessions can feel surprisingly natural even if you are new to video calls. Most people find that once the conversation begins the screen fades into the background and the connection becomes the focus. Your counsellor or therapist will help you settle in and will check in regularly about your comfort and the pace of the work.
Because you are in your own environment some people find online therapy helps them open up more easily and feel more grounded. Others enjoy the flexibility to attend sessions even on heavy or difficult days when travelling would feel overwhelming.

What will I need?
You do not need anything complicated to take part in online counselling. A quiet and private space and a device with a stable internet connection will be enough. You can use a laptop tablet or phone. Many people find it helpful to wear earphones for extra privacy and focus but this is optional.
You might want a drink or tissues nearby and possibly a notebook if reflecting between sessions feels useful. Otherwise you only need to arrive as you are.
Who is suitable for online counselling?
Online counselling is a good choice if you:
- Enjoy the convenience of meeting from home
- Have mobility or health conditions that make travel difficult
- Have caring responsibilities that limit your flexibility
- Feel anxious about attending therapy in person
- Live far from our base or move locations often
- Prefer the comfort of your own environment
It may not be suitable for you if you are in crisis or unable to find a private space. If this is the case we will explore safer or more appropriate support options with you during your assessment.

Common questions about online counselling
What if my internet drops or the call freezes?
Small interruptions are normal and your therapist will handle them calmly. If the connection drops we simply reconnect. If there is a longer disruption your therapist will contact you by email or phone to restart the session.
What if I do not have a private space?
There are many creative options. Some people use their car parked in a safe private place. Others use headphones and sit in a room where they will not be overheard. Your therapist can help you think through what will work for you.
What if online counselling feels awkward?
It is very common to feel unsure before your first online session. Most people settle in quickly and many forget they are online within minutes. Your counsellor or therapist will check in about how you are finding it and adjust the pace gently.
Is online counselling confidential?
Yes. We use secure platforms that meet privacy and data protection requirements. Your therapist will talk through confidentiality fully with you at your assessment and answer any questions about privacy or data security.
Who will be my therapist?
Following Clinical Assessment with a qualified counsellor, we will carefully match you with a therapist whose expertise and availability align with your needs. This process is typically completed within 3-5 days of receiving your agreement. Your therapist will then contact you to arrange regular weekly sessions at a time that works for you.
All our counsellors are committed to the highest professional standards. They are registered with their respective professional bodies, abide by ethical frameworks, have up-to-date DBS checks, and carry professional indemnity insurance. Additionally, they engage in regular clinical supervision to maintain a high standard of care and support, in line with industry guidelines.
To make therapy more accessible and to support the development of the counselling profession, our therapists are trainee counsellors completing clinical placements. These trainees come from approved training centres where they have been certified as proficient to work with clients. They bring fresh perspectives and a range of therapeutic styles, allowing us to cater to the diverse needs of our clients. All trainee counsellors work under the guidance of qualified professionals to ensure a safe and effective therapeutic experience.
Your Clinical Assessment will be conducted by a fully qualified counsellor who operates within a robust ethical framework. This ensures that your needs are thoroughly evaluated and matched to an appropriate therapist, supporting both your progress and the professional growth of our trainees.
As an organisation, we are proud to champion inclusivity and diversity, welcoming clients and counsellors from all backgrounds. We strive to create an affirming space where everyone feels respected, valued, and supported on their journey to well-being.
