What to expect on your placement
Your placement with Strive is more than just client hours. From day one, you’ll be supported in building confidence, autonomy, and depth in your practice.
Client Work: Most students begin with one client and build up gradually. Your caseload is shaped around your capacity, confidence, and life outside placement.
Modalities: We welcome trainees from person-centred, integrative, pluralistic, and most other approaches.
Client Matching: We consider your preferences, experience, and development areas when assigning clients.
Boundaried Practice: You’ll be supported to work ethically, with close guidance around limits of proficiency, referrals, and safeguarding.
Autonomy: You’ll be given training and guidance in how Strive operates, including our systems, so that you can manage your clients independently. However, help is always on-hand!
Ethics: We require our placement students to be signed-off as proficient to work online with clients, either as part of your training course or through suitable CPD signed-off by your training provider. We also provide you with strong safeguarding and risk guidelines and procedures to keep your clients and yourselves safe.
Supervision: While individual supervision isn’t yet provided in-house, we are looking to offer group supervision in the near-future, and can help you source affordable options or discuss what’s expected with your training provider.
Beyond the hours
Strive is a community, not just a service.
Connection: You’ll be invited to informal peer check-ins, reflective spaces, and optional learning groups.
Visibility: We believe in recognising talent. Many students will go on to join Strive in paid roles after qualifying.
Development: With options like shadowing, assessments training, and co-facilitating workshops, we want you to feel stretched, not used.
